4-A is over, and so is school!!

So we had great results at Tisca, team placed third overall, but now it's time to get down to business: we need to take state. And for that to happen it's important that NONE OF US get out of shape over break. It happens easily. It happens when you're not paying attention, when the sugar plum fairies are dancing around and you forget to go to swim practice. So here's your reminder:

THE PRACTICE TIMES ARE ON THE CALENDAR. SHOW UP. ON TIME. SWIM HARD. GET FAST.

Enjoy your break everyone!!!

This Saturday, December 5, at 7:30 pm, the Grubers (5445 Oxford, 214-755-9635) will be hosting our annual Christmas party and gift exchange. A message was sent out through facebook to the team, but just in case you dont check facebook or didnt get the email here is the link to the evite. A white elephant gift under $10 (not a gift-card, lazies out there!) will make your evening much more fun. Be creative. See you there!!

I give thanks for my team...

Three centuries ago, our forefathers set out on a journey to discover a place where a man could swim in something besides the English Channel. After months at sea, dying of scurvy and underchlorination, the first pioneers of America established our nation in Plymouth, Massachussetts, eating a feast with the Native Americans, and the next morning, waking up before 7 to work off the calories swimming. And so from that day forth, every year, we show up for practice on Wednesday, eat twice our body weight on Thursday, and go to practice the next morning. If our ancestors died crossing the Atlantic Ocean to bring us freedom to excel in athletics, we would be remiss not to acknowledge their selflessness and sacrifice. So if thou art a patriot, an athlete, and a member of the glorious Highland Park state-championship swim team, come to practice on Wednesday and Friday, ready to swim at 7 am.

Update No. 24

Marcus Meet.....
Boys-HP 113, Marcus-72
Girls- Marcus 94, HP- 92 (!!!!)

Well we almost trounced the 5A team, so I'm pretty sure we're still the bomb.
In other news, we have a couple of meets coming up.

COLONY INVITATIONAL- yes we are going, no it's not this Saturday
--Saturday, 11/14, events to come soon

5A TISCA
--Friday, 11/20 to Saturday, 11/21

IMPORTANT!!!! We have a HP Sports Club meeting to make an appearance at. Next Monday at 7 the entire team MUST be at the meeting, in their team polos and jeans. They give us lots of money and you WILL be spending 15 minutes waiting in line to say your name, on pain of death. It's not rocket science. If you need a ride, call a captain.

In other news, there is an SMU meet this Friday night that all swimmers are invited to time at for service hours. Sign-up sheet is in the pool. Should be awesome.

T..t...t...that's all folks!

Marcus Dual Meet!

Pierce meet down, Marcus meet to go. Next Tuesday we will have a home meet v Marcus, and from what I hear it'll be a toughie. Same schedule as usual, swimmers be back by 430, see McKinney meet for other times. Don't forget, blackout polo tomorrow morning at 630!!!! All swimmers/divers are welcome, and believe me it will be worth it.
Stay strong!

Intrasquad Madness!!

Dunderheids, Eejits, and Numpties (to understand, say it in your head with a Scottish accent),
As I hope many of you have been informed by now, we will be holding our annual Blue-Gold Intrasquad after school next Tuesday, October 6. The Blue-Rays and Golden Coles (strike that. reverse.) will be facing off in our very own pool starting at 5:30. Here's the skinny on whit ye ought best be doin that day:
  • If you are a diver- show up directly after school. Dive warm-ups are at 4:00 and Diving shall commence at 4:30.
  • If you are a swimmer- Come watch diving at 4:30. Team unity's important. Swimming warm-ups start directly after at 5:00 and events start 5:30.
  • If you are a timer/official- 5:15 is the magic time to arrive. Be ready to time/officialize at 5:30.
  • If you are a parent/sibling/uncle/grandma/etc.- You may do whatever you like. I would suggest not arriving during diving (4:30-5) because you will have to endure the wait and silent walk the long way around the pool so as not to disrupt the divers.
I'll get events up when I get them but for now, dinnae fret, ye will ken yer team.

Well that was fun....

Yo team!
Great meet! Despite disease, disorder, and dis-electricity (you know what I mean), the Highland Park Bluewave Swimming season is officially underway. Many of us did better than we'd hoped, many worse, but overall everyone's got both the room and potential to improve to a very formidable level, which is hopefully in progress as I write this. Don't forget we've got another meet coming up this Saturday: the Ranger Relays. Hopefully we're moving close to "set in stone" and I'll be posting entries sometime this week. Until then, stay/get healthy!!!
Yours truly,
Managill
p.s. Horrible pun of the day: There were two ships, one with red paint, one with blue paint. They collided. At last report, the survivors were marooned.

This weekend! IMPORTANT

New info on the Frisco Meet!

Firstly, bus leaves at seven instead of 6:45. Don't tell people who tend to show up late.

Secondly, the meet is expected to end before three, but as we all know, that ain't gon' happen. You may leave AFTER your last event IF AND ONLY IF

  1. You are picked up by YOUR parent with a note
  2. You are finished swimming
  3. Coach Ray ok's it at the meet
  4. You have a homecoming date (just kidding, but if you do have one I would plan on trying to make this happen and get out of there quick)

Warm-Ups are at 8:20 in the deep end, lanes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, and the meet starts at 10:00

Don't forget your suit, cap, goggles, towel, lunch, water, etc. Good luck comrades!!!

Love always,

Gillian

Ranger Relay INFO

Ladies and Gentlemen (and neither as it may be):

We have on our hands another meet. The Jesuit Ranger Relay is October 3, just a week from Saturday, which is the Frisco Sprint.

THE LOCATION OF THIS MEET HAS BEEN CHANGED! It is now at THE COLONY, NOT SMU!!

Bus leaves at 12:30 pm and the first event (400 medley relay) starts at 2:30. This is going to be a very fun meet. Only relays. Who could ask for more?

Cordially,

MGMT

p.s. Sweatsuit orders are up and running. If you would like to purchase your own (we will be using the same kind in the future, so think of it as investing), they will be $90 each. If you do not order one, we will be picking up some team-property style. Everyone will be required to wear it to each meet.

Second Week!

Hey swimmers and divers, parents and admirers, First week's over!! It seems we are getting settled in. Schedules have been worked out and lockers have been assigned, the roster's in the making, and, more relevant to me, many forms have been turned in. Many haven't. Get them in (If you havent paid your ACE Fees, click here). On a happier note, we have a meet coming up soon!! The Frisco Sprint Meet is on Saturday, September 26. It should be a great kick-off for us, because it goes with out saying that HP kicks butt/bubbles. Right now the girls are coming back from a leisurely jog ("that was horrible" vs. "I want to die") to the UP pool and back, and the guys are downstairs? maybe? doing drylands. I will leave you with an additional reminder to GET YOUR FORMS IN if you're a slacker and stay healthy! Love, Manager Gillian
